Meditative May Donation-Based Class

May is Mental Health Awareness Month.  Join us for a donation-based class at 6:30pm each Friday in May.  (Donations in any amount are not required or expected but are very much appreciated) These classes, gentle and meditative in nature, are  designed to help to relax you and draw you inward. Proceeds from all donations will go to support Pathway Homes, a non-profit organization in Fairfax which provides housing and supportive services to adults in Northern Virginia with serious mental illness and other co-occurring disabilities.  Here's the schedule for these special classes:

May 6 - Candlelight Tea Meditation and Sound Bath - A 75-minute soothing and contemplative practice that will create space for tea loving (or want to be!) yogis.  Join us for quiet meditation, gratitude journaling, guided tea tasting and sound therapy, including crystal and metal bowls to induce a deep sense of relaxation and renewal. Bring your favorite tea cup to class and a notebook or journal (or we'll have these items for you to borrow if you forget!).

May 13 - Gentle Yoga and Yoga Nidra - After some gentle movement you'll be led through a Yoga Nidra practice, or "yogic sleep", where we draw our attention inwards and learn to surf between the states of wakefulness and sleep . .   a place where our body finds its natural state of balance and becomes quiet.

May 20 - Mindful Movement and Meditation - Led by Aprile, who holds a Mindfulness Certification, this class is a gentle movement meditation which will help to generate self-awareness.

May 27 - Gentle & Restorative Yoga combined with Gatha Meditation (Gatha is a Sanskrit word for soong or verse. Reciting gathas is a good way to meditate while engaged in any activity, be it sacred or mundane.  Joining the breath, the mind and the activity of the body, Gatha meditation invites us into a deep, direct meditation experience)
