Buried in overloaded responsibilities of either personal or professional life, we tend to forget ourselves. The duties we have towards ourselves self-care, "me" time, vacation; little things like these have been overlooked by us. What we don't realize is that these little things are not so little after all! These things contribute immensely to making us well organized, productive, happier, and healthier in all aspects.

This blog post will attempt to dose you up with self-care tips to implement into your lifestyle.

IMPORTANCE OF SELF-CARE

By engaging yourself in self-care, you may relieve yourself from the pressures of everyday life. It's like resetting yourself once a day so you can be productive once again. Following are some of the benefits you'll experience from self-care.

A BETTER IMMUNE SYSTEM

Not all of us can deal with short deadlines and overloaded work stress all the time. Some people are more sensitive and short-tempered. The sudden attacks of anxiety can take over your immune system and make you fall ill.

A meta-analytic study indicates that chronic stress can disturb multiple components of the immune system in a potentially harmful way.

Only by spending some quality time for yourself can you save yourself from poor immune health.

A BREAK FROM STRESS AND ANXIETY

Think of the time and costs spent on mental health services, therapies, anxiety medications, and more; it's proficient to benefit yourself from self-care in time.

The UK's Mental Health Foundation recommends relaxing as a therapy for anxiety. They state that learning relaxing techniques such as yoga, meditation, and massage can help you battle psychological and physical feelings of fear.

BOOST PHYSICAL HEALTH

Research shows that more than 160 human and animal studies prove that happy people live longer and healthier lives than unhappy ones.

Moreover, plenty of other studies have proven that self-care is linked with lower risks of chronic heart disease, stroke, and many cancers.

IMPROVED PROFESSIONAL LIFE

Dozens of people often complicate productivity by doing more work (the mindset of working more and more for long hours). However, being more productive means performing more tasks in a short time. It can only happen if you are relaxed, concentrated, and relieved from all the external stress.

Doing small things that make you happy at work can be beneficial for you. For instance, admiring the view from your office balcony while drinking coffee, or chatting with your friends while having lunch, or even performing pushups behind your desks for freshening up.

Cross-sectional research done in 2020 shows that nurses who indulge in self-care have been linked to a more positive professional life than those who didn't.
